Agriculture. Guayule cultivation. Seedling topper at work on guayule nursery beds. This machine mows the seedlings off to a uniform height for ease in digging and packing. The tops are collected in a bin on the machine and disposed of outside of the nursery. The tops are worthless for rubber production. This test method covers an immunological method to determine the amount of protein in Guayule Natural Rubber (GNR) and its products using rabbit antisera specific for Guayule Natural Rubber latex proteins. This immunoassay procedure quantitatively measures the level of GNR proteins in solution using an inhibition format. The samples may include but are not restricted to, gloves or other.

Guayule was one as were euphorbias, milkweed, dandelions, and jojba. He is a semiretired chemist who does chemical information consulting and book reviews under the company name Buntrock.

Guayule is an evergreen shrub that originated in the arid zone from the southwestern part of the USA to northern Mexico and therefore can be grown in environments totally different from those suited for para rubber trees (the current primary source of natural rubber (*1)).

Guayule ((Parthenium argentatum) is a small woody, flowering shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Latex can be produced from the bark of this plant. Unlike rubber produced from tropical plants, the latex in guayule is hypoallergenic, i.e., it does not contain certain proteins found in tropical plants that cause latex allergies.

Guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray) is an interesting alternative and renewable source of rubber/latex which has been used in the past. Guayule rubber and latex products are not available in the market largely because the raw material cost is higher than the current sources produced in South-East Asia and other tropical countries (Hevea brasiliensis).Author: Francisco M.

Jara, Katrina Cornish, Manuel Carmona. Guayule, a desert shrub, produces rubber free of allergenic proteins, which makes it useful for surgical gloves (Economist, b).

Bell et al. () used prickly lettuce, which synthesizes long-chain natural rubber polymers similar to the polymers in natural rubber (Kantor, ), to determine the fundamental genetic and phenotypic.

Yulex Corporation applies crop science, bioprocessing and materials science for the production of agricultural-based biomaterials made from Guayule (Parthenium argentatum). The company’s materials are designed to replace traditional tropical- or petroleum-based rubber in consumer, industrial, and medical products, with the residual agricultural materials utilized as a feedstock for arters: Chandler, Arizona, U.S.This book chapter should help scientists and others identify those problems where further work is needed in the areas of guayule production, breeding, and product development research in order to move guayule commercialization forward.
